Monthly Look Ahead: June 2023

I have stopped wearing two sweaters every day, so it must be June. The sun is out and I have a decent amount of things to look forward to this month. Here’s what they are:

monthly look ahead updated image.

  • I have a birthday this month. Last year, I tried to throw myself a small party, but it ended up being a rather sad night. This year, a friend who also has a June birthday and I are having a small joint event of mutual friends, probably at an Activate location. So fingers crossed for a better day.
  • Though it’s many years late and now marred by the lead actor’s controversies, the Flash movie is finally out this month. I’m excited to see Michael Keaton’s Batman again and a new version of Supergirl. I hope that this movie is worth the years of waiting, but I don’t have high hopes.
  • It’s been a minute since we’ve had a Marvel TV show, but we’re back with Secret Invasion on the 21st, and it seems pretty neat. Nick Fury is always a cool character, and it’s been a while since we’ve checked in on him.

  • The last set of Manifest episodes are coming out on Netflix on June 2nd. I’ve been a fan of this show since day 1, so I’m very excited. I was very impressed at how Netflix maintained the vibe of the show when it was on NBC when the first set of episodes came out last fall. It’s a goofy show but it’s fun.
  • Also on June 2nd comes Spider-man: Across The Spiderverse. The first Spiderverse movie was very cool with stunning animation, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of that.

  • British band McFly has a new album coming out on the 9th. It seems to be a rock-heavy album, which seems solid. I wasn’t a huge fan of their last album, but based on the singles I’ve heard from this upcoming one, it’s a bit more my vibe.

So that’s what’s going on in my June. What are your plans this month?

That’s all for now!

Monthly Look Ahead: January 2021

Happy new year! I’d like to believe that all the drama and tragedy from 2020 is now left behind, but that’s not how the world works. Still, a new year can be seen as a fresh start if you want it to. Either way, it’s important to look forward to things, even little things, in life, and as much as sometimes these Monthly Look Aheads are boring or empty, I like being forced to think about the good things that are to come (I also like 12 guaranteed blog posts every year!). I asked on Twitter if I should continue with them, and people said yes, so here we are.

So, this January, here’s what I’m excited for, and you are more than welcome to make your own MLA post, or share your goodness in the comments!

  • WandaVision, the first MCU TV show going directly to Disney+ is finally coming out after delays. It’ll be out on Jan 15th, and I’m excited. I think Wanda and Vision are two interesting but relatively unexplored characters, so it’ll be fun to have them as the stars in a show that looks different from any other MCU show.
  • Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist returns for season 2 on Jan 5th! My parents and I enjoyed this show and I’m looking forward to it coming back, even if I didn’t miss it that much over the summer.
  • Batwoman (with a new Batwoman) begins its second season on the 17th. I didn’t love the first season (though I didn’t hate it), but I’m interested to see how they work in a new lead character and what the fan response is.
  • I start my new job! I signed the papers in mid-December, but it made sense to start me in the fresh new year. I’m very excited.
I gotta go to work! gif.

I hope you all have a great 2021, or at least a great January!

That’s all for now!

P.S. If you’ve been following me for at least a year, you may know what next week’s post is gonna be, so keep an eye out for that if you’re interested!

Monthly Look Ahead: January 2019

Another year, another January! I won’t ramble on about resolutions (because I have a post on that coming next week), but I do like how this month feels like it has potential to be great. So hopefully the things I’m about to list below aid in making this month a great one…monthly look ahead logo

  • This month I am participating in two curling bonspiels. I’m a fairly competitive person, so I think it’ll be fun to be in a competitive environment rather than just the casual weekly games.
  • Almost all my TV shows are back this month after the midseason finales.  Some are back the first week of January, so I’m glad I only have to do minimal waiting.
  • Also Brooklyn Nine-Nine starts this month. It’s not my favourite show but it’s a good one and I’m interested to see how NBC does it differently than Fox.
  • The Golden Globes are on the 6th. I curl that night, so I might have to record it to watch it later, but the hosts are Andy Sandberg and Sandra Oh, and I think they’ll do well.
  • Fox’s live production of Rent is to air on the 27th. Again, curling will conflict, but I’m very excited for this because Rent is a good musical. I do wonder how or if Fox will change the show to make it more primetime TV-friendly, but there’s nothing I can do but wait and see.
  • Season two of The Punisher is supposed to be out this month on Netflix. There’s been no set release date, which is concerning, so we’ll have to see. I’m obviously excited for this show to be back because season one was pretty good, but we just know it’s probably doomed to the same fate as its other Marvel Netflix siblings,  so I feel like I won’t be able to appreciate the show properly.

What’s going on this new month for you? Let me know!

And I hope you all have a great 2019 full of happiness, health, and success. I look forward to another year of blogging and keeping up with you and vice versa.

That’s all for now!

Monthly Look Ahead: December 2018

Ho Ho Ho-ly cow, it’s already December! Can you believe the year is almost over? A lot of people online are expressing their shock that the year seemed unusually long, and I feel that. Though, for me, I think this is accentuated by the fact that my life has changed a lot in the past year. In January I was away at school and editing a novel. Now I’m back home and working full time and getting rejections from lit agents. Anyway, before the year is over, I still have December to look forward to. And by now you should that I love Christmas, so I think this month will be a good one. Here’s what I’ve got going on:

  • I very much enjoyed season one of Marvel’s Runaways, so I am very excited for season two on the 21st.
  • On the 18th, Ellen Degeneres’s Netflix comedy special is coming out, and I am very interested to see that. I love Ellen, and I think she’s funny, but being funny on a talk show and being stand-up comedy funny are different things. She’s done stand-up before, but it’s been a while. I have faith, though.
  • As it is every year, the Arrowverse is doing a big crossover. Though Legends is not a part of it this year, there’ll still be more than enough characters to deliver a wild story. All the pictures I’ve seen of Barry as Oliver and Oliver as Barry have me super ready for it. Plus Clark and Lois and Batwoman? The hype is real.
  • Aquaman is hitting theaters on the 21st, and early reviews seem alright. The trailer looked good actually (aside from Mera’s silly hair. It’s so dumb-looking).

  • In October, Team Starkid had a new show called The Guy Who Hated Musicals and I thiiiink it’ll be on YouTube this month (or so a Tweet from Nick Lang said). I can’t wait to see it because Starkid’s content is almost always funny and entertaining.
  • Mary Poppins Returns and Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse are two movies I want to see at some point but am not dying to see. They’re obviously out this month, so if a friend wants to see one, I’ll go, but otherwise I’ll watch them eventually.
  • Christmas, obviously. Though we don’t know what our plans are yet. Gotta love that.
  • My mom and I haven’t started baking any Christmas cookies, so we gotta get on that.

Aaaand that’s my December. What do you have going on this last month? Make your own MLA post and share!

That’s all for now!

Monthly Look Ahead: November 2018

Here we are in month 11 of 12. It is now colder. Days are shorter. But this November has a few fun things on the horizon and you’re gonna hear about it now. Monthly Look Ahead time! Feel free to make your own MLA post too. They’re really good at helping me plan out the month. My November includes:

monthly look ahead logo

  • Christmas music! I listen to the radio basically all day at work so I am very excited to have beloved Christmas jams going. I’d like to be able to hold out until late in the month like a normal person but I am weak and will likely have it one way too soon.
  • On November 2nd, PBS is airing a pro shot recording of An American In Paris. I don’t know much about the show but it’s a musical, and who am I to turn down free musicals?
  • The last season of Canadian show Mr. D starts on the 7th. Honestly, the past few seasons of this show haven’t been great, but this is the last season so I’ll keep watching, hopefully to see some nice closure for the characters I’ve come to enjoy over the past nine years. Besides, Canadian Gods Tessa and Scott are going to be on one of the episodes!
  • Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: The Crimes Of Grindelwald is out on the 16th, and I am very excited. I adored the first movie, and I’m ready to go back to the magic. Hopefully I go see it with some old Quidditch pals, but I don’t know if we can get coordinated enough for that.

  • Speaking of Quidditch, there’s a Muggle Quidditch tournament near me one weekend, so I want to go watch some of it. Maybe I can convince my parents to come so they can see the sport in real life.
  • I think cheesy Christmas movies also start this month, and I want to watch as many as I can because I love the holiday sweetness.
  • Some friends of mine are going to Australia for a year and before they depart, they’re having a going away party, which will probably be fun. As I joked to a friend, if I don’t go, who will be Party Mom?

And that’s my November. Since all my blog posts in October were on YouTube (did y’all like those posts?), I didn’t want to post anything else unrelated. Now my series is done so I have complete freedom again, so I’m looking forward to writing up some new posts, returning to my regular random content. So see you guys then!

That’s all for now!

P.S. Since it is Halloween today, you should see the pumpkin I carved. The main attraction is a dragon, but I was inspired to add a little something extra to the side!

(I had to brighten the bean picture a little because the blue light was making it look weird and hard to see because it is really thin, but still, I am very proud!)
