Waiting…

I pride myself on blogging consistently once a week or so. Never have I gone seven days without a post. Until now, as you can see.

I’m upset. It’s not like I’ve been busy, but if you’ve seen my tweets you’d know that I was waiting for approval for something.

You see, in one of my classes at school we have to do a research project and to gather my research, I’m doing a survey. I want to share it here so you lovely readers and bloggers and friends can partake in it, but I’m waiting for my professor to approve it first. The thing is, I sent it on Monday, and I doubt my prof will be going through emails over Easter, so the best I’m hoping for now is this coming Monday morning. It’s just unfortunate that I lost a whole week of data collection, as the project is still due in two weeks. Anyways, keep a look out for my survey. Though knowing my luck, it’ll be approved on the same day as my Monthly Look Ahead.

But since this post is about waiting, let’s talk about that. Do you like waiting for things? How do you manage? I’m weird in the sense that I hate waiting for things but I also hate risking anything. For example, I take a bus to school. I could memorize the times the bus arrives so I’m not waiting at the stop for 10 minutes, but then I risk being like 20 seconds late and missing it.

Overall, I dislike waiting. I hate waiting for TV shows or movies. When I was little, waiting for Christmas morning was torture! And while I realize that TV and Christmas are fun things, I don’t even like waiting for bad things. Test/exam marks that I know I did poorly on is an example of that.

Though despite this, I do like fishing. I have a patience for that, oddly enough. I can stare into the water and watch my line for hours, but I can’t deal with standing at a bus stop for more than five minutes.

Waiting is weird. Tell me your waiting stories so I can pass the time?

P.S. I saw Kinky Boots a few days ago with my parents and oh my gosh it’s such a fun, funny and beautiful show. I totally recommend it!

  1. I’m with you: I hate waiting. Fact: up until about three years ago, I’d wake up in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve, go through my entire stocking, and then put it all back how it was and pretend to be surprised in the morning.

Love the meme by the way

    • Oh that’s hilarious! Your dedication is real! I’d be out like a light all night but as soon as that clock went from 6:59 to 7:00 my brother and I would be down those stairs in milliseconds! 😀

  2. I don’t mind waiting. I think I’m quite a patient person. I think it’s because I’ve recently been practicing mindfulness, which is good for that sort of thing.

  3. Cool question. When I’m waiting for a ride and don’t know exactly when they’ll show up, I’ll actually wonder to myself, “How many hours/DAYS in my life has been spent waiting?!” Like, just sitting there and waiting for someone to pick my up from school, for a date, for a night out? It bugs me.

But when it comes to buses or something I’m responsible—if I’m the one picking the friend up and said I’d be there at 3 p.m.—then I don’t mind. I want to be there 5 minutes early, ’cause I don’t want to make someone else wait since I hate waiting. Or, as for the bus, I don’t want to risk missing it if it happens to come early.

    • For the most part, I’m a pretty punctual person too. I have a decent time management skills so I can usually handle myself, but when it comes to other people, I totally get how frustrating it can be when you have no control!

  4. Generally I don’t like waiting, either. I’m really excited for something…or if it’s something bad, can I just get it over with. Patience is a virtue, I’ve been told…and I’ve tried to gain it.

When it comes to waiting that can’t be avoided, like for the bus, I’ve tried everything from counting the number of trees on that corner, to reading, to re-organizing my bag, to just attempting to stare into space and chill. (That’s not going to happen!)

  5. Yes, watching a fishing line is vastly different from waiting at a bus stop; however, both drive me nuts. I don’t like to wait but I hate worse to be late so I generally arrive early for most things. I came over on my tour around the Blogger’s World members. You’re on tonight. I’m glad. I took your survey and read a bit. Also I’m marking your follow. Profitable visit for me. Come see me some time. Meanwhile we will continue to meet on BW I’m sure.

    • Well you’re doing better than me, as I’m not often early…I’m usually right on time or fashionably late!
Thanks for the visit and comment! I recognized your name right away! 🙂
