Here I am, a lowly blogger, trying to harness any readers and the internet to help me with a mission that I’ve been on for years. I’m at the point where a part of me believes the song I’ve been looking for never existed.
Here’s the story:
I remember sitting on my bed listening to the radio on my purple stereo and hearing a Christmas song that I fell in love with. I remember finding it on iTunes, but I never bought it. That is my biggest regret in life.
At some point, maybe a year or two later, I tried to find that song again. Only I never could. I’ve scoured the internet, used every song search engine, made pleas on Yahoo Answers, emailed radio stations and much more. I still can’t find the song. It doesn’t help that I remember very little about the song, and as years go on I probably forget more. Either way, I’ve spent hours and hours looking for this song. This paragraph doesn’t even come close to explaining what I’ve done in my searches or how dedicated I’ve been every holiday season. Just trust that the struggle has been real.
This year, I’ve reached my limit. My breaking point. I’m going to give up. This post is my last shot in the dark to finding the song and if this fails then I’m going to live my life pretending that the magical missing song never existed. A minor Matrix flaw, perhaps.
But here’s what I remember of the song, and if you know it, or know of a way to find it, please please please leave a comment or contact me.
- I heard it in either 2008 or 2009.
- It was upbeat, but not a dance song. Pop-ish genre.
- I’m pretty sure it had male and female vocals, but I don’t know if it was a duet, or a male band featuring a female or vise versa.
- It was an original song.
- It was a happy Christmas song.
- There was a lyric that was sort of like “why is it only once a year that the family gathers” but that is likely off a bit. I’ve searched for variations and had no luck.
- I want to say that the iTunes album art had a picture of a fireplace but I think I may have made that up.
- I heard it on a Canadian radio station so it may be a Canadian song, which may explain why the general Internet hasn’t heard of it.
That’s literally all I remember. It’s not a lot, but it’s all I have. There are eight billion people on this planet, so someone’s got to know.
It’s been six or seven years that I’ve been hunting for this song, so please help me if you can. Sharing this post with others can also help, so please do so.
Thank you in advance for your help. Even reading this post is helping, and I am grateful for that much.
I’m a Christmas music fanatic and was hoping I’d recognize it. I did a few Google searches but no luck, and the description doesn’t ring a bell. I’ll let you know if I find anything!
Thank you for trying!
I have been tuning into every Christmas station I can find because now this mysterious Christmas song is bothering me. Please post if you ever find it!
Thanks so much but I’ve been searching all week and I don’t think I’ll ever find it…but if I do, I’ll definitely post it, don’t worry.
I have shared it on 2 FB pages, Twitter and Google!
I understand your love for this song. I hope you get to meet it again soon 🙂
Love and light ❤
Anand 🙂
Thank you so much! Love and light to you too!
I just kept thinking about Leona Lewis’ song
No, I just looked up her Christmas songs and they came out in 2013.
Oh! Seems like longer ago lol
Genuinely rooting through YouTube archives right now AND I’ve text my mother in law! What have you done?! Lol
Do you remember if it had guitars playing?
Omg thank you for helping! And I think it did just because it was a pop-ish song, but I’m not 100% sure obviously!
Well, I’m on wiki now looking at 08/09 Christmas songs – status quo?
Just looked it up, nope that’s not it. But that is a nice song, so thanks!
No worries! What about air terry wogan & aled Jones? Or Hallelujah?
And then there’s Geraldine mcqueen
Nope to all of those… 😦
Man!
This is so tough lol
Sure you didn’t dream it haha
I often think I did…. Again, thanks for the help!
It’s a hard one, you’re probably gonna find it one day and think ‘oh, it’s not as good as o remember lol’ – question, are you UK or US based?
Canada, actually, so US I suppose!
Hmmm possibly changes things then…
Shot in the dark here Suzie McNeil “This Is Christmas” https://youtu.be/Prj-IBv49FM via YouTube
Not that, but I do love that song!
This is so hard lol! I think I will post it to my blog and see if any of my followers can help haha!
Oh, you’re a saint! Thank you!

I’ve been hunting on YouTube and googling for the last 45 minutes, but I was unable to find anything. I hope someone else has better luck!☺️
Thanks for trying! I really appreciate it!
Another long shot from that rough time frame is Chris Trapper’s It’s Christmas Time Again album. Wouldn’t call it pop per se, but it sounds contemporary.
Just looked it up, and it’s not that. But thanks for trying to help!
No clue. Sorry, I’ll keep looking.
Well, if you’re serious about this . . .
http://www.allmusic.com
. . . paste that in your browser address bar to open the site, and then type Christmas in the site’s search bar. It came up with 170K Christmas songs and nearly 25K Christmas albums. Most, but not all, have a little 30 second snippet you can play. Click through the song and it shows you the albums the song was on. Click through the album to a page about the album with a track list. If there’s a round “play” button in the samples column of the track list you can hear a bit of the tune.
If it was ever published it’s probably on this site. It’s worth a try.
Thanks for this! I spent several hours going through it, but I realized that it was just showing me albums and I think the song I’m looking for was a single. And as a test I looked up a different song that’s been out for a few years and it didn’t even exist on the site. But it’s a good resource that I’m glad I’m aware of now, so thank you.
You are welcome. And good luck with the hunt. I know how frustrating it can be.

Nice! I don’t know how it worked its way into my vocabulary but it’s such a fun word and I like it so much, I made it my own!
Ah it’s the worst when you can’t find a song! This is like a scavenger hunt, I’ll do my best to help find it.
That’s all I can ask! Thanks!
